BOSTON - The Boston University men's and women's swimming teams completed day one of the Terrier Invitational on Friday evening in the Competition Pool.

The BU women took both fourth and fifth place in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Mika Spencer, Tess Harpur, Karla Ferrara and Courtney Grace (1:37.33) narrowly edged the quartet of Alexsa Savage, Kendra Cheng, Katherine Kenney and Kara Zebrowski (1:37.89).

The men's 200 freestyle relay team of Cole Puchi, Ryan Bach, Connor Stuewe and Andy Vazquez placed first (1:23.40), while Jeff Thomas, Mun Hon Lee, James Sundquist and Pat O'Neal combined to place fifth.

Spencer later finished third (4:55.39) in the 500 freestyle final, with senior Megan Happ (5:03.91) and freshman Stephanie Nasson (5:04.60) placing sixth and eight, respectively.


 

 

Stuewe (4:34.31) and Alec Pokornowski (4:39.81) were fourth and seventh, respectively, in the men's 500 freestyle final.

The BU women then took second and third in the 200 IM, with senior Katie Radin (2:06.22) edging Cheng (2:06.68) to the finish line.

Lee was second in the men's 200 IM final by just .07 seconds (1:51:13).

The women's 400 medley relay team took third, as Radin, Elizabeth Garreau, Cece Simpson and Courtney Grace combined for a time of 3:57.04.

BU had the top two teams in the men's 400 medley relay, with Stuewe, Bach, Puchi and Mario combining for first with a time of 3:21.12. Lee, Thomas, Vazquez and Brandon Funk for a time of 3:24.03 for second.

Day two of the Terrier Invitational takes place on Saturday with the preliminary races beginning at 10 a.m. and then the finals following at 6 p.m.
