BOSTON – The Boston University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept Fordham on Saturday afternoon at the Competition Pool in BU’s first home meet of the season. The men’s team downed the Rams, 178-117, while the women’s team claimed a 177-121 victory.

The BU men won 11 of the 16 events while the BU women also posted 11 first-place finishes.

On the women’s side, the Terriers began the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay. Senior Kendra Cheng, junior Avery Visser, sophomore Tess Harpur and freshman Isabella Olivares clocked in at 1:48.26 for the win.

Cheng led BU with three individual victories, as she placed first in the 100 backstroke (56.88), 200 backstroke (2:03.92) and 200 IM (2:07.27).

Sophomore Stephanie Nasson picked up her first victory of the day in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:15.28. She was also the top finisher in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:01.83 for the win.

Fellow sophomore Mika Spencer posted the top time in the 200 freestyle (1:52.65) while junior Alexsa Savage was first in the 50 freestyle (24.45).

Freshman Lauren Dixon won the 100 freestyle in 52.36 while junior Courtney Grace placed second with a time of 53.40 and Olivares was right behind her in third (53.54).

Senior Chelsea Glincman led the Terriers in the 1m diving event with a total score of 284.32 while freshman Kalli Roebelen was second (254.10). On the 3m board, Roebelen took first with a total of 267.82 while Glincman claimed second (259.20).

Junior Mario Caballero led the BU men with three individual first-place finishes. Caballero posted the top times in the 200 freestyle (1:42.87), 200 breaststroke (2:06.78) and 200 IM (1:55.43).

Senior Nik Astashinsky was also a multi-event winner for the Terriers. He earned first in the 100 backstroke (52.39) and the 200 backstroke (1:55.63)

Freshman Austin Dickey continued to pace the Terriers in the 100 breaststroke with a victory in 59.42. Sophomore Mun Hon Lee followed with a first-place time in the 200 butterfly (1:51.46). Dickey later placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:10.01).

Junior Cole Puchi also picked up a victory for BU in the 50 freestyle in 21.35.

Lee, Dickey, junior Ryan Bach and freshman Brian Habacivch were victorious in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:34.12.

Sophomore Brandon Weiss claimed first in the 1m diving event with a score of 240.15 and followed up with a win from the 3m board (268.05).

BU will next host its annual Terrier Invitational beginning on Friday, Nov. 22. The three-day meet will be held at the Competition Pool.
