BINGHAMTON, NY - Junior Lidija Breznikar won three individual events in helping to lead the Terrier women's swimming and diving team to a 164-79 win over host Binghamton in the season opener.
In all, the Terriers won 10 events, while they had six sccond-place finishes and a third to account for their point total.
Breznikar (Kotpje, Slovenia) picked up where she left off last year in dominating her three events against Binghamton. In the 200 individual medley, she finished the in 2:147.84. She touched the wall at 2:14.84 in the 200 butterfly, while she completed the 200 breaststroke in 2:30.79.
Coming in behind Breznikar in the 200 butterfly was senior Emily Moreno (Oakland, NJ) with a time of 2:18.11.
In the 1000 freestyle, sophomore Lauren Cammisano (Hinsdale, IL) won in 11:23.34. The Terriers went 1-2 in the 200 freestyle with junior Natalie Boyd (Pittsburgh, PA) winning the event with a time of 2:00.61, and senior captain Lauren Foster (Lake Quivira, KS) was second in at 2:01.20.
The Terriers also went 1-2 in the 200 breaststroke behind the the efforts of freshman Kara Olderog (Mesa, AZ) and sophomore Selina Herdman (Melville, NY). Olderog finished in 2:16.68, while Herdman touched at 2:20.06.
Boyd and Cammisano finished 1-2 in the 500 freestyle coming in with times of 5:32.42 and 5:36.62 respectively.
The Terriers 400 freestyle relay team of Cammisano, Boyd, Olderog, and Foster touched the wall first with a time of 3:48.26.
In the diving competition BU finished 1-2 on the one-meter and swept in the three-meter. Freshman Brooke Wallace (Duxbury, MA) and sophomore Megan White (Falmouth, ME) took the top honors in the 1-meter scoring 220.42 points and 196.80, respectively. In the three-meter White came in first with 2.23.95 points, Wallace was second with 2.17.20 and senior Kathleen Cunningham (West Islip, NY) finished third with 1.83.75.
