Swimmers Set for Day Two Finals

BOSTON - In this morning’s preliminary round, several Boston University swimmers qualified to compete in tonight’s finals of the 2007 America East Championships. Sophomore Eve Kinsella set another school record, this time in the 200 individual medley. Her time of 2:04.54, broke the previous record set by teammate Lidija Breznikar last year. Marina Morie, Christina Ruggiero and Liisa Young will swim in tonight’s 500 free final. Morie is BU’s highest-seeded swimmer in the event with the fifth-best time of 5:08.54. Eve Kinsella swam the fastest preliminary time, touching in 2:04.54, nearly two seconds faster than her seed time. Lidija Breznikar and Brigette O’Shaughnessy will join her in tonight’s final. In the women's 50 free, Ali Chester and Tanaz Irani will swim for BU. Freshman Arik Seiler will compete in the 500 free as the third seed. Seiler swam to a 4:40.90 finish. Swimming with Seiler in the 500 free is James Lands, Ben Kaiser, Greg Dierksen and Michael Bear. In the men's 200 IM, John Passaro, Kyle Berg and Evan Morris will be competing. Tonight's finals begin at 6 p.m.
