BOSTON - Sophomore April Setterlund has been named to the 2009 ECAC Division I All-Star First Team, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon. Setterlund, who batted .396 in 2009, helped guide the Boston University softball team to one of its best seasons in school history as it won its first America East Championship in six years and claimed two victories in the NCAA Regionals.

Despite an injury, Setterlund flourished in her sophomore campaign, batting an impressive .396 with eight home runs and 29 RBIs. She broke a single-season school record earlier in the year with 15 doubles and has hit 27 two-baggers in two seasons - only eight away from breaking the career mark. Her .396 clip is currently fifth all-time in single-season batting averages. She was an America East All-Conference First Team honoree at season's end and a 2009 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Northeast Region Team member.

Setterlund was an integral member of the BU softball team, which completed its historical season with single-season team records for wins (43), hits (453), doubles (83) and stolen bases (94). The Terriers advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2003 after claiming its seventh America East Championship crown and won two games in the Atlanta Regional over Iowa and Auburn.
