Terriers Complete Series Sweep of Hartford on Senior Day
The Boston University softball team completed the season sweep of Hartford with a 2-0 victory over the Hawks on Senior Day on Sunday at the BU Softball Field. The Terriers have won nine in a row for their longest winning streak of the season and improved their record to 33-13 and 11-3 in the America East.

Batting a team-high .360, junior Jayme Mask recorded a combined five hits against the Huskies and Eagles, reaching home plate three times. Trying to help the Terriers rally from an eight-run deficit against UConn, junior Amy Ekart hit her team-leading third home run of the season and currently has 15 RBIs.

Over the last seven games, the Terriers have hit five homers after totaling five in the first 21 games of the season. Sophomore Mandy Fernandez launched her second one of the season to lift BU to its win against BC.

In the circle, senior Whitney Tuthill (8-9) owns a team-low 2.41 ERA and has pitched 11 complete games. After holding the Eagles to just five hits on Thursday, her opponents' batting average has dropped to .246. She has struck out 83 batters in 119 innings pitched.

Hartford (10-20, 2-4 AE) enters the contest after claiming a doubleheader sweep over defending MAAC champion Iona, a team BU eliminated in the 2012 NCAA tournament. The Hawks came from behind in both contests to record 6-4 and 12-11 wins. Jackie Kelly combined to go 4-for-6 and hit the game-winning RBI single in the second contest. She is currently second on the team in batting average at .250.

The Hawks opened the America East schedule with a 2-1 record at Stony Brook before being swept at Albany in three games. Erica Phelps is batting a team-high .300 and owns nine RBIs. Kate Wacyk (.223) has 14 RBIs with Kelly and Melani Maxwell close behind at 12 and 11 RBIs, respectively.

Zuzana Kudernatschova (6-9) pitched all seven innings in the first contest against Iona and allowed five hits with four runs, all unearned. She also struck out nine Gaels. With a 2.12 ERA, she is holding opponents to a .209 batting average.

The Terriers own a nine-game win streak against the Hawks after claiming a three-game sweep at home last season by a combined score of 14-1. In a 2-0 victory, senior Erin Schuppert struck out six batters and allowed just five hits in 6.2 innings of work before Tuthill got the final out for the save. During the 11-1 run-rule win, junior Brittany Clendenny crushed a grand slam to lead BU.

Following the series, BU will remain on the road and visit Harvard on Tuesday (April 9) at 4 p.m.
