Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Boston University softball team advanced to the America East title game with a 6-1 victory over top-seeded Stony Brook on Friday afternoon in Stony Brook, N.Y. Senior Nora Militz capped off a productive afternoon with an RBI single and classmate Shayne Lotito went 2-for-5 with two RBIs in the squad's 40th win of the year.

The Terriers will play at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday (May 9) against No. 3 Albany game. Albany will have to win two games against BU.

In her second straight start, junior Cassidi Hardy went the distance, striking out four batters and allowing one unearned run on six hits. In addition to her two hits, Lotito had one stolen base, while classmate Melissa Dubay swiped two bags.

Militz broke up a scoreless deadlock in the fifth with a single up the middle that plated pinch runner Erica Casacci. Later on in that inning senior Christy Leath scored when freshman Emily Roesch reached on an error at shortstop. In the bottom half of the frame, SBU cut the deficit to one with an RBI double to right center field.

Lotito made it a two-run game in the sixth when she made it home from second base on an infield single from Dubay and one at-bat later she scored on a single up the middle by Leath.

One inning later, the Terriers placed runners on first and third with just one out. Lotito then singled to first base and on the throw advanced to second as senior Brooke Hudson and junior Rachel Moeller scored on the play.
