BOSTON -
The Boston University women's soccer team and head coach Nancy Feldman are pleased to announce that rising seniors Casey Brown, Mara Osher and Emily Pallotta have been selected as tri-captains for the 2009 season. The trio will look to lead the Terriers to their fifth straight appearance in the NCAA tournament and seventh America East Conference championship in 10 years.
"The three senior captains that will lead us next fall complement one another and bring different leadership strengths," said Feldman.
Brown has been a stalwart on defense for the past three seasons for the Terriers, anchoring a backline that has shut out 32 opponents in three years. The Natick, Mass., native has been rewarded as the America East Defender of the Year two years in a row and an AE All-Conference First Team selection twice.
"Each is a role model on and off the field, is passionate about BU women's soccer and is an example of the commitment and work ethic necessary to be a contributing player on a championship team," continued Feldman.
In a banner year for Osher, the Rockville, Md., native scored three goals - including the eventual game-winner in the conference championship game - and added a team-high four assists from the midfield. At season's end, she was recognized by the conference coaches as an America East All-Conference First Team honoree.
"This trio is held in very high regard by their teammates and coaches in all character and generosity categories," concluded Feldman.
Pallotta was a second-team all-conference selection in 2008 and an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 1 First Team selection, capping off a season where she recorded 10 points on four goals and two assists. She had two game-winners, including one against the Big Ten's Wisconsin on Sept. 12. A staple on the midfield flanks, Pallotta has missed just one start in three seasons.
