Terriers Head to US Stars & Stripes and Catamount Classic Lacrosse Events

US Lacrosse Stars & Stripes Event | Catamount Classic - Lacrosse for a Cure

BOSTON - Head coach Liz Robertshaw and senior Danielle Etrasco of the Boston University women's lacrosse team will participate in the seventh annual U.S. Lacrosse Stars & Stripes event this weekend while the rest of the Terriers will play in the Catamount Classic - Lacrosse for a Cure tournament on Saturday (Oct. 6).

Etrasco, who was named to the U.S. women's national senior team this past summer, and Robertshaw, an assistant coach for the national team, will travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the exhibition game between Team USA and Team Australia on the campus of Stanford University. The contest is a part of the US Lacrosse Stars & Stripes event which features top international and collegiate women's lacrosse action.

The U.S. women's national team will face Australia for the first time since 2009, when Team USA defeated Australia, 8-7, to capture the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic.

The game with be broadcast on ESPN 3 live on Sunday at 1 p.m. Fans can also follow LaxMagazine.com for a live blog of the game and coverage throughout the event. Team USA will also play Team Canada and collegiate programs Cal and Stanford this weekend in addition to holding several training sessions.

While Etrasco and Robertshaw are on the West Coast, the reminder of the BU women's lacrosse team will head to Thayer Academy in Braintree, Mass., for the 2012 Catamount Classic - Lacrosse for a Cure tournament on Saturday (Oct. 6). Nine Division I women's college lacrosse teams will take part in the all-day tournament with all proceeds being donated to cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.


 

 

BU will play four games during the tournament and begin the day with a contest against Holy Cross at 9 a.m. The Terriers will then face Connecticut (10:30 a.m.), Brown (12 p.m.) and Bryant (3:30 p.m.).
