BALTIMORE – Senior Danielle Etrasco of the Boston University women’s lacrosse team was named to the 2012-14 U.S. women’s national senior team, US Lacrosse announced on Sunday.

Etrasco made the team after three days of tryouts held July 27-29. She will be part of a 36-player roster that will serve as the training team pool for the team that will defend Team USA’s 2009 gold medal at the 2013 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup in Oshawa, Ontario. Etrasco most recently competed for Team USA at the North American Challenge Cup, which was held July 13-15 in Oshawa.

The Massapequa, N.Y., native was also on the 2011-12 U.S. women’s national training team. Etrasco had a career year for the Terriers in 2012, as the senior attack scored a career-high 58 goals and totaled a career best 80 points en route to being named an IWLCA All-American.

The team will come together for several training events before the final 18-player FIL World Cup roster is announced in February 2013, including Stars & Stripes weekend (Calif.) in October 2012 and Champion Challenge (Fla.) in January 2013. The team will also conduct numerous national team player clinics throughout the year at various sites around the country.
