BOSTON - Coming in at No. 8 in this year’s Terrier Twelve is the Boston University lacrosse team capturing its sixth straight America East title. The conference crown was the ninth tournament championship for the squad in the past 11 seasons.
The Terriers opened the 2010 campaign 3-0 for the first time since 2005, while also winning their first five conference matchups. In the title game, BU edged UMBC, 11-10, to advance to the NCAA tournament, where it played Penn for the third time in four years.
The tournament championship was the fourth title under head coach Liz Robertshaw, tying her with former BU mentor Liz Kelly for the most America East conference titles by a head coach.
The Terriers placed a league-leading 10 players on America East All-Conference teams. Included among the honorees was McKinley Curro, who led the league in points (59) and was tied with Traci Landy for most goals (43).
In addition, juniors Rachel Collins and Corcoran Downey joined Curro on the IWLCA Northeast All-Region First Team, while Landy was named to the second team.
