BALTIMORE - Six members of the Boston University lacrosse team have advanced to the second round of tryouts for the 2009-10 US Lacrosse Women's Developmental Team, US Lacrosse announced on Wednesday. Attacker McKinley Curro, midfielder Sarah Dalton, defenders Corcoran Downey, Jenny Martin and Kelly Munroe and goalkeeper Rachel Klein were among 64 players selected.

The group was chosen to advance after participating in the US Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournament last month in Bel Air, Md. The second round of tryouts will be held August 1-2 in Baltimore.

Dalton and Munroe were members of the 2008-09 developmental team, along with former Terrier Lindsay Lewis ('06). The squad represents the level just below the elite team, which competes in the World Cup and other international competitions.

Dalton and Munroe just graduated from BU after capping off their careers with their fourth straight America East Championship. Dalton (Cornwall, Vt.) is a two-time first-team All-American and America East Player of the Year after leading the nation with 91 goals, fifth-most in NCAA history, in her senior campaign.

Munroe (Westwood, Mass.) was the backbone of the Terriers' defense, earning a third-team All-American and first-team All-Region selection this season. She tallied 23 ground balls, 24 draw controls and 18 caused turnovers in her senior campaign.

Curro (Amherst, N.H.) was named a third-team All-American and first-team All-Region after a breakout junior campaign that led to her first All-Conference bid, a unanimous first-team selection, after tallying a career-high 71 points on the strength of 40 goals and 31 assists.

Downey (Ellicott City, Md.) made her presence felt on defense this season, leading the team with 26 caused turnovers as a sophomore in her first season as a starter. She also notched 20 ground balls and chipped in seven points, earning second-team All-Conference honors and a spot on the America East Championship All-Tournament Team.

Martin (Catonsville, Md.) started every game in the midfield in her junior season, picking up 16 ground balls, controlling nine draws and causing seven turnovers.

Klein (Forest Hills, Md.) posted a 10.09 goals-against average and .444 save percentage as a redshirt junior, playing every minute of the season in the crease. She earned a spot on the All-Conference second team this season.

The Terriers completed the 2009 season with a 15-4 record under America East Coach of the Year Liz Robertshaw after winning their fifth straight America East Championship.
