BOSTON, MASS. (May 3) - Boston University sophomore midfielder Kristen Abruzzese scored four goals and added an assist, and the Terriers tallied a tournament record 18 goals en route to an 18-7 victory over the University of New Hampshire in a 2000 America East Women's Lacrosse Championship semifinal on May 3 at Nickerson Field.
Boston University junior midfielder Chrissy Lombard scored three goals and two assists, bringing her career point total to 182,within three points of the all-time Terrier scoring record of 185 points currently held by Chris Fleming ('84).
Sophomore midfielders Ericka Hergenroeder and Kyle Rutkowski also had three goals apiece for the Terriers, who are currently ranked 10th in the latest Brine/IWLCA Division I poll. Junior attack Megan Mangano tallied three goals for the Wildcats.
In all, seven different Terriers scored goals, and ten different players tallied points.
Terrier sophomore goalkeeper Brooke Barrett made 10 saves in the victory, while freshman Danielle Martin and junior Amanda Warren combined for 11 saves for UNH.
The Wildcats finish their season 7-10, while the Terriers improve to 14-3 for the year, tying their all-time record for wins in a season.
Boston University will host No. 3 seed Hofstra, who upset second-seeded Delaware, 12-9, in Wednesday's other semifinals, in the finals of the America East Tournament. The game will be played at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6th, on Nickerson Field. .
