The Boston University lacrosse team has been ranked 10th in the nation in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I preseason poll, released Monday. The Terriers open the season on Feb. 25, hosting Massachusetts at Nickerson Field.
BU went 18-3 last season, captured its fourth straight America East championship after a perfect run through the conference and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals. The Terriers were ranked seventh in the final IWLCA poll of 2008.
BU will face five other nationally ranked teams as part of its 16-game regular season schedule. In a three-game span, the Terriers will visit No. 2 Syracuse on March 4, host No. 12 Vanderbilt on March 7, and travel to No. 5 Penn on March 11 for a rematch of last season's NCAA quarterfinal matchup. BU will also visit conference rival No. 14 New Hampshire for a rematch of last season's America East title tilt on April 1 and host No. 13 Dartmouth on April 22 at Nickerson Field.
Head coach Liz Robertshaw returns 21 letter winners and 10 starters from last season's team, including first-team All-American Sarah Dalton.
