BOSTON – In its final game of the season, the Boston University women’s lacrosse team dropped a 20-11 decision to No. 5/6 Boston College on Saturday night at Nickerson Field.

Sophomore Jenny Thompson led the Terriers with her second career hat trick while junior Lindsay Weiner and sophomore Ally Adams each posted two goals and a pair of assists. Senior Becca Church scored twice while senior Elizabeth Morse and sophomore Jill Horka netted one goal apiece.

Horka also led BU with four draw controls while freshman Janelle Macone had a team-high three ground balls. Senior Christina Sheridan made seven saves in goal.

The Eagles (13-5) outshot the Terriers, 38-22, and had a 15-8 lead in ground balls. BC also held the advantage in draw controls, 21-11, and converted 6-of-11 free position attempts while BU went 5-of-8 from the 8-meter mark.

BC had nine players record at least one goal and were led by Covie Stanwick (4g, 2a). Zoe Ochoa earned her first career win in goal for the Eagles and recorded seven saves.

Thompson opened the scoring with a free position goal 28 seconds into the game to give the Terriers an early 1-0 lead before the Eagles scored nine straight goals to go ahead 9-1 with 6:10 remaining in the opening half. Seven Eagles found the back of the net during the run and three goals were scored on free position attempts.



Horka ended the streak with an unassisted tally with 2:44 to play and Adams scored 38 seconds later on a free position attempt to make it a 9-3 game. BC added a goal on a free position shot from Mikaela Rix to take a 10-3 lead into halftime.

Weiner opened the second half with an unassisted goal 42 seconds into the period before the Eagles added a pair of tallies to extend their lead to 12-4 with 24:03 on the clock. BU responded with three straight free position goals, as Adams, Church and Weiner all converted their attempts to make it a 12-7 game with 20:16 to play.

After two more goals from the Eagles, Thompson found the back of the net with a helper from Weiner. The duo then connected again, as Thompson completed her hat trick with 11:36 on the clock.

BC scored the next three goals but the Terriers ended the run with a goal from Church following an assist from Adams with 4:25 on the clock. Adams matched her career-high with her second assist of the night, as Morse found the back of the net with 2:28 to play. The Eagles scored the last goal of the game with 39 seconds remaining to complete their 20-11 victory.

BU concludes its season with a 9-11 overall record. In their inaugural season as members of the Patriot League, the Terriers went 5-3 in conference games and advanced to the Patriot League Championship game.
