WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Senior forward Jenn Wakefield (Pickering, Ont.) of the fifth-ranked Boston University women’s hockey team was named Hockey East Player of the Month, the league announced on Tuesday.

Wakefield was fantastic in October, as she notched six goals and four assists for 10 points in eight games played. The Pickering, Ont., native compiled a five-game point streak from Oct. 7-22, which included three multi-point efforts and a four point game against Niagara on Oct. 8. Wakefield also lit the lamp in three straight games from Oct. 7-15.

She currently leads Hockey East with eight goals and 13 points this season, and is tops in the nation with five power play tallies. Wakefield is one goal shy of 100 for her career and would be the first Hockey East skater to score 100 career goals.

BU will be in action on Wednesday night as the Terriers open their conference schedule against the No. 4 Boston College Eagles at Chestnut Hill, Mass. Puck drop at Conte Forum is scheduled for 7 p.m.
