BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team heads to New Hampshire this weekend to take on the fourth-ranked Wildcats on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. It will be the first conference game for each team, as the Terriers look to dethrone last season's conference champions.

Live stats will be available on the New Hampshire Athletics website, with a live video feed at UNHwildcats.tv.

The Wildcats (2-1-0) are coming fresh off a 1-0 win against Colgate on Sunday. New Hampshire, who won the Hockey East Championship last season and held the conference's best record (18-1-2), features several dangerous scoring threats. Last season, sophomore Sam Faber (17-29-46) led the charge, with junior Jennifer Hitchcock (25-13-38), freshman Kelly Paton (13-21-34) and junior Martine Garland (6-25-31) creating a plethora of challenges for opponents.

The Terriers (0-3-1) have proven to be a solid team as well, although the team's record might suggest otherwise. Of BU's first four games, three have come against teams ranked seventh or higher. Nine Terriers have contributed to score the team's ten goals, with junior Erin Seman leading the pack (2-3-5). Three of the team's freshmen, Holly Lorms, Jillian Kirchner, and Lauren Cherewyk, each have a goal and an assist, while senior Julie Poulin leads the team with four assists. Sophomore Melissa Haber has been solid between the pipes, suffering all three of the season's losses despite some magnificent performances, including a 38 save showing against seventh-ranked Minnesota. Junior Allyse Wilcox has also been strong in goal, sporting a 1.85 goals against average with a .905 save percentage.

Last weekend, BU (0-3-1) lost two to second-ranked Mercyhurst in Erie, Pa. But the team put up a great fight, scoring six goals on the weekend against a Lakers team that had posted three shutouts in their first three games of the season. After falling down 4-1 on Friday, BU battled back and scored four consecutive goals between the second and third periods. However, Mercyhurst junior Valerie Chouinard scored twice in the third period to cap off a hat trick and win the game for the Lakers. Seman led the Terrier charge, with three assists and a goal during Friday's match-up.

Mercyhurst won handily on Saturday, scoring two goals early and never trailing in a 4-1 victory. However, Cherewyk scored her first goal of the season in the second period off assists from junior Amanda Shaw and senior Stephanie Armstrong.

The Terriers dropped all three games to the Wildcats last season, but played to a close 3-2 finish on Feb. 21. The two teams will meet three times this season, twice at Whittemore Ice Center and once at Walter Brown Arena.
