Shaw to Play for Swiss Pro Team, Canadian National Inline Team
June 24, 2009
Defenseman Amanda Shaw, who just completed a four-year career with the Boston University women's ice hockey team, has signed with a professional team in Switzerland and will also skate for Canada's national inline hockey team. Shaw will play for ZSC Lions in Zurich, a club in the Swiss women's professional ice hockey league. She will also join Canada for the International Roller Sports World Inline Hockey Championships. The Canadians will be one of eight teams competing for the gold in Varese, Italy, from June 29 to July 4. Canada is a traditional powerhouse in the event, appearing in the gold medal game every year since the tournament was first held in 2002. In her four-year career with the Terriers, Shaw appeared in 136 games and tallied 41 points (12g, 29a). She was a member of the inaugural class that launched the program in 2005 and lifted the program into the national rankings this past season.
