Senior forward Danielle DeCoste nets game-winner for Terriers

BOSTON, MA (October 13) -- Boston University senior forward Danielle DeCoste (Fall River, MA) broke a 1-1 tie at 13:05 of the second half lifting the Terriers to a 2-1 win over New Hampshire in an America East conference field hockey game at Nickerson Field.

UNH jumped out to a 1-0 lead on senior midfielder Kelly Stowe's (Oak Park, Ill) goal from junior back Jessica Russell (Harrisville, RI) and the America East's leading scorer junior midfielder Kristin Iarrusso (Southwick, MA) at 24:11.

The Terriers evened the score at 1-1 when sophomore Felicia Cappabianca (North Caldwell, NJ) tallied her seventh goal of the season from senior co-captain Tina McDavitt (Walpole, MA) with 6:05 to play in the first half.

DeCoste notched the game-winner at 13:05 on a furious rally in front on the New Hampshire cage from sophomore Jane Rogers (this week's America East Rookie of the Week).

The Terriers improved to 12-2, 7-0, while New Hampshire falls to 8-5, 3-1 this season.

New Hampshire goalie Amy Agulay was outstanding in goal for the visitors posting 19 saves, while B.U. goalies, senior Noreen Flanagan (Red Bank, NJ) and sophomore Susan Harrington (Tuftonboro, NH), each had one save The Terriers outshot the Wildcats, 25-3, and held the advantage in penalty corner situations, 13-5.

B.U. evened the all-time series with the Wildcats at 10-10-3 . Sally Starr's team travels to Cambridge to play No. 20 Harvard University at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 16.

GAME NOTES:B.U. has won its last nine home games dating back to last season... Jane Rogers and New Hampshire's Kristin Iarrusso continue to lead the conference in scoring with 26 points... The Terrier have reached 12 wins faster than any previous B.U. team. The '96 team (17-5) won its 12th game on Oct. 18. The '85 team (17-5) won its 12th on Oct. 23...Senior Danielle DeCoste is eighth on B.U.'s all-time scoring list with 24-19-67...
