No. 17 Terriers Post 4-0 Victory over No. 13 Maine in America East Semifinals
Junior Nicole van Oosterom scored a pair of goals and freshman goalkeeper Valentina Cerda recorded a seven-save shutout to lead the No. 17 Boston University field hockey team to a 4-0 win over No. 13 Maine in the America East semifinals on Friday at Memorial Field.

The Terriers and Black Bears will be meeting for the first time since last season's America East semifinal contest in which BU posted a 4-0 shutout victory to advance to the league final. BU is 27-6 in their 33 all-time meetings with the Black Bears with wins in 11 of the last 12 meetings.

Maine has been dominant over the past four weeks, winning eight of its last nine contests. Most recently, the Black Bears posted a 3-2 home victory over Brown on Monday after moving to 2-0 in league play with a 2-1 overtime triumph against Fairfield on Saturday.

The Black Bears have been paced offensively this season by sophomore Annabelle Hamilton, who leads the team in points (19) and goals (8) while sharing the lead in assists (3). Freshman Cassidy Svetek has been impressive as a rookie with seven goals.

Senior Alicia Frisch has been the team's top goalkeeper, posting a 7-1 record along with a 1.39 goals-against average and a .714 save percentage.

Senior Jacinda McLeod (6g) and junior Ella Gunson (3g, 6a) - the reigning America East Player of the Week - share the team lead in scoring for the Terriers with 12 points apiece. Four goals have come from the stick of senior Tabi Hatch while senior Nicole van Oosterom and junior Madeleine Hackett have added three tallies each.

As has been the case throughout the season, senior Jess Maroney and sophomore Valentina Cerda Eimbcke have split time in the BU goal. Maroney currently ranks third in the nation in save percentage at .824.
