PRINCETON, N.J. - Lauren Vendetti (Ashland, Mass.) figured in all the scoring in field hockey's 2-0 win at Rutgers on Sunday, Oct. 3. The senior back scored one goal and assisted on the other as the Terriers won for the fifth time in six games.
The Terriers improve to 6-4 overall, while Rutgers dropped to 4-9.
B.U. got on the board with 7:34 remaining in the first half, as Vendetti scored on a penalty corner to give the Terriers a lead they would not relinquish. Junior midfielder Colleen McClay (Mahopac, N.Y.) and senior back Adrienne Scibilia (Ringoes, N.J.) assisted on the score.
Vendetti would add an assist 7:16 into the second half, doubling the Terriers' lead as senior forward Jen Joyce (Lititz, Pa.) scored to make it 2-0.
Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Prediger (Telford, Pa.) made three saves to earn her fourth career shutout. She lowered her goals against average to 1.42 and improved her save percentage to .824.
The Terriers return home next weekend to face the University of Maine on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 3:30 p.m. and the University of Connecticut on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. Both games are at MIT's Jack Barry Field.
