GAMETRACKER vs. UMASS

BOSTON - Junior tri-captain Erin Calamari (Chester, Conn.) became the second BU field hockey player to earn America East Player of the Week honors this season, it was announced by the conference office on Monday. Calamari and the 20th-ranked Terriers will return to action on Tuesday, when they visit Massachusetts for a 6 p.m. contest.

Calamari broke a scoreless tie in the closing minute of the first half against 13th-ranked Northeastern on Sept. 16. It was her first goal of the season and was scored on a perfectly executed penalty corner. The junior back drilled a shot to the boards with 20 seconds left before intermission on an assist from sophomore Sarah Shute and senior Colleen McClay. BU eventually dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to its cross-town rival.

The Terriers (3-3) will kick off a three-game week on Tuesday when they visit the Minutewomen (3-5) in Amherst for a 6 p.m. contest. Last season, BU posted a 1-0 home shutout over UMass on a goal by Shute.

After losing their first three contests this season, the Minutewomen responded with a three-game win streak only to have it snapped in a 2-1 loss on Sunday against Maine. Freshman Katelyn Orlando has a team-high five points on the season with two goals and an assist. Senior Patricia Borneo also has recorded five points this season on the strength of a team-best three assists.
