Snow Resigns to Pursue Olympic Dream; Cassara Promoted
BOSTON - After serving as a graduate assistant coach during the 2006 season, Caitlyn Cassara ‘06 has been promoted to assistant coach of the Boston University field hockey program, as announced by head coach Sally Starr. Cassara will replace Tiffany Snow, who will be concentrating on preparing for the 2008 Summer Olympics with the U.S. National Team after being a member of Starr’s staff for the past four seasons. Snow, a veteran of 54 international matches, captained the U.S. squad to a best-ever fourth-place finish at the AtaHoldings Champions Challenge last month in Azerbaijan. Team USA will attempt to qualify for the 2008 Olympics when it competes at the Pan American Games on July 13-29 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. “Tiffany has made many contributions to the Boston University field hockey program over the past four years with her tremendous passion for the sport and her tireless work ethic,” said Starr. “We wish her the best as she pursues her lifelong dream of competing for her country in the Olympic Games.” Cassara, a former captain at BU, stayed with the program as a graduate assistant last fall, concentrating on the team’s goalkeepers. She will now take on a full-time role with additional responsibilities, especially in recruiting. “We are pleased that Caitlyn will continue to be part of the Boston University field hockey family,” said Starr. “Caitlyn has a great love for this sport, the University and the hockey program, and has successfully worked with us over the past year. I am really pleased that she will add continuity to the coaching staff as we move forward into next fall.”
