BOSTON - Boston University field hockey head coach Sally Starr has named three Terriers - seniors Colleen McClay (Mahopac, N.Y.) and Caitlyn Cassara (Roseland, N.J.) and junior Erin Calamari (Chester, Conn.) - as captains for the upcoming 2005 season.
McClay is coming off a junior season in which she was named to the America East All-Conference First Team. She finished the season 10th in the nation with 15 assists. She scored her first career goal in the Terriers' 3-0 win over UMBC and tallied a career-high three assists in a 7-1 win over Albany. She was one of 13 Terrier field hockey players to earn a spot on the conference's Academic Honor Roll in 2004.
Cassara and Calamari combined for a single goal in 2004 - a Cassara score in the 7-1 win over Albany, but their contributions to the overall team effort was invaluable as they led a young team to a 13-7 record. Calamari joined McClay on the America East Academic Honor Roll.
In 2004, the Terriers earned the America East regular-season championship and made their first conference championship game appearance since 2000. They finished 19th in the final NFHCA Division I national poll.
