Robyn Kenney Named to U.S. Under-20 National Field Hockey Squad

BOSTON -- Boston University sophomore midfielder Robyn Kenney (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) was named to the 22-member U.S. Under-20 National Field Hockey squad.

The team was selected after a two-week evaluation camp, which was held at Rutgers University in Brunswick, NJ in mid-January.

The Under-20 team will travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina in late February before competing over the summer months in preparation for the 2000 Pan American Games and 2001 Junior World Cup.

Kenney was a standout performer in 1998. A First Team Northeast Regional All-American and America East All-Conference selection, Kenney started all 20 games for the 12-8 Terriers, who recorded their 11th consecutive winning campaign under head coach Sally Starr (18 years, 207-127-21).

"Robyn sets very high goals for herself, " Starr said. "However, she is an excellent team player, who has gotten better and better each year. She is an extremely dedicated athlete who is very deserving of this prestigious honor."

Kenney is the third Boston University field hockey player to earn a spot on a national team. Former Terrier All-Americans, Sally Maxwell '90 and Michele Barnard '97, have also competed with U.S. National squads in international competition.
