BOSTON - Overcoming rainy conditions, the Boston University women's rowing team opened its season with a win over Rhode Island on Sunday morning. Winning both races, the Terriers won their third straight after beating URI twice during the spring.

Coxed by junior Sarah Specht and stroked by junior Mackenzie Wiler, the V8 boat posted a time of 16:59 in the first race, just ahead of the Rhode Island V8 boat's time of 17:20. The second race took place in windier conditions and the times reflected those conditions with BU's V8 boat finishing in 17:22, eight seconds ahead of URI's time of 17:30.

The Terriers will have one more race against BC at home on Oct. 13 before the Head of the Charles Regatta on Oct. 20-21.
