Weekend Of Festivities Planned For Head Of The Charles Regatta
BOSTON, MA--Both the Terrier men's and women's crews have scheduled a weekend of social festivities, highlighted by a clambake on Saturday, October 23, for this year's Head of the Charles Regatta. In an attempt to make the weekend even more enjoyable than it has been in the past, all social events will be held on Saturday. In addition, both the men's and women's crews have proposed to begin a tradition of welcoming back decade reunion classes as well as the 25-year-class. This year, classes ending in a four ('94, '84, '74, '64, and '54) and 1979 are to be honored. A 7:00 a.m. row on Saturday is offered for everyone interested. Both men's and women's crews will be dedicating new boats at 10:00 a.m. on the deck of the DeWolfe Boathouse. Lunch will follow immediately. The men will dedicate two new eight-oared shells. One will be for the much loved the late Dave Farnsworth ('40), while the second will be for Donald Fisher ('47) commemorated in perpetuity by the Phil Twombly Endowment Fund. The women will dedicate two new racing eights. David and Robyn Jaye, who continue their generous support through the Jaye Endowment, will return to christen their new eight, and the shell's name will be announced at the event. Following the shell dedications, friends, parents, and fans will be able to watch the Head of the Charles racing from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. Then, at 6:00 p.m., a welcome reception and clambake will be held at the Boathouse from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Then, on Sunday, October 24, there will be racing from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For those watching, coffee, bagels, and lunch will be sold.
