TRAKAI, Lithuania - Recent BU grad Cheryl Copson ('12) helped Team Canada win the gold medal in the women's four on Saturday at the 2012 Under 23 World Rowing Championships held in Trakai, Lithuania.

Canada won in 7:11.24, Australia took the silver position in 7:15.38 and Russia finished third in 7:16.61.

Copson was an All-New England First Team honoree and Boston University Scarlet Key recipient. She sat in the stroke seat on BU's varsity eight boat during the spring season and helped the Terriers finish second at the CAA Championship and third at the Eastern Sprints, earning CAA All-Conference honors.

The Peterborough, Ont., native also helped the Terriers capture the Kittell Cup against Syracuse and their first Council Cup victory against Northeastern since 2005.

Copson graduated in May with a degree in archaeology.
