Women's Crew Set For Pre-Henley Regatta Time Trials

LONDON, England-The Terrier women's crew will be rowing in time trials on Friday, June 25 against 10 other crews with the hopes of securing a spot in the Henley Royal Regatta on July 3-4.

The trials, which will be rowed on the Thames River, will be stiff as only the top four crews will advance to the Rememham Challenge Cup, which features the women's eight crews.

An invitation will be based on just time, as the 11 crews will race single file over the course. The fastest four crews will join the other four pre-selected crews at one of the world's premier rowing events, the Henley Royal Regatta.

The Terrier women have been in England for more than two weeks. Their initial competition came in the Reading Regatta on Saturday and Sunday, June 12-13. This was considered the warm-up to the Henley Women's Regatta, which was rowed last weekend.

There, the Terriers met strong crews and were eliminated in the first round.

"Both our crews drew the eventual winners in their events'" said B.U. head coach Holly Hatton. "There were strong club crews that had rowers between 25 and 30 years old. There were also some of the rowers from the B tier of the British National Team.

"I was very pleased with how well both our crews rowed considering the limited amount of time we have been here," continued Hatton. "Now, we have to get ready for the time trials."
