The Terrier women's heavyweight crew received one of four at-large berths for the NCAA Division 1 Rowing Championship that will be held May 30-June 1 at Eagle Creek Reservation in Indianapolis, IN. Both the University of Indiana and the United States Rowing Association will serve as co-hosts of the meet.

The Terriers earned the berth on the strength of their fifth-place finish at the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 18th. Seeded seventh entering the Sprints, the Terriers finished second only to Brown in the morning qualifying heat. In the competition, the Terriers were clocked in 6:55.13, while Brown, which was the top-seeded Eastern crew in the race, covered the 2000-meter course in 6:44.50.

Then, in the afternoon racing, again in good water but into a headwind, the Terriers were fourth behind a quartet of Ivy League boats, all of whom were seeded in the top four entering the competition. Leading the way was second-seeded Radcliffe, which looked very impressive en route to nearly a five-second win over third-seeded Princeton. Radcliffe was timed in 6:43.80 to Princeton's 6:48.20. Brown was third in 6:51.20, while fourth-seeded Yale was fourth in 6:55.60. The Terriers were next in 7:03.40 with Syracuse rounding out the Grand Final field in 7:14.15.

In addition to the Terriers, the other three crews to receive at-large berths for their varsity eights were Southern California, Tennessee, and Texas.

In addition, 12 schools received bids for their teams, which include two boats of eight rowers each and one boat of four rowers. The 12 teams are Brown, California, Harvard (Radcliffe), Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Princeton, Stanford, Virginia, Washington, Washington State, and Yale.
