The Terrier women's crew looking to row to wins over Texas and Northeastern and win the Women's Council Cup, lost to the Longhorns by the narrowest of margins but beat Northeastern in miserable rowing conditions on the Charles River on Saturday (April 24th).

Texas, with a little more push in the final strokes of the 2000-meter race, defeated the Terriers by just .21 seconds. The Terriers led by about a length coming under the Mass. Ave. Bridge, which was about 1000-meter mark. Their lead was down to three quarters of a length as the two boats came past the 1500-meter mark.

But, Texas came up to nip the Terriers at the end with a time of 6:31.49, while B.U. was clocked in 6:31.70. Northeastern was third a little more than a length back in 6:37.86.

The second varsity race featured significant steering problems steering problems from Texas and Northeastern. Texas was in BU's lane (who was the center crew) for the first 1000 meters. In fact, the problem caused the referee to give Texas a number of warnings. In the third 500 BU had pulled even with NU, NU then steered in to BU, with Texas squeezing from the other side. The result was the Terriers did not have a lane of their own lane in the last 500 meters. While the problem might not have changed Texas winning the race, it did have an affect the race between the Terriers and Huskies. The Longhorns were timed in 6:50.0 to Northeastern's 6:54.02. The Terriers were third in 7:02.

In the other two featured races, the Terriers won the Varsity 4 with a time of 7:34 by the A boat. Northeastern was second in 7:38.1 to 8:02.5 by Texas.

Finally, the novice eight event, Northeastern won in 6:52.6 to 6:55.6 by Texas and 6:57.0 for the Terriers.
