Women's Crew Splits With Yale, Dartmouth In Class of '85 Cup
The Terrier women's varsity heavyweight crew lost to host Yale but beat Dartmouth on Saturday (April 12th) in the featured race of the Class of '85 Cup in Derby, CT. The split brought the Terriers' overall spring season record to 4-2 with wins over UMass, Navy, George Washington, and Dartmouth, while the losses have been to Syracuse and Yale. Rowing on flat water with a moderate tail wind and a moderate tail current, the Terriers covered the 2,000-meter course in 6:12.8, just four seconds behind the Elis, who were timed in 6:08.8. Dartmouth finished a distant third in 6:20.3 In the second varsity race, the Terriers finished third behind Yale and Dartmouth. The Elis rowed in 6:24.6 to 6:27.8 for the Big Green and 6:37.7 for the Terriers. That was also the order of finish in the Novice 8 and Varsity Four. In the former, Yale won in 6:42 followed by Dartmouth in 6:47 and the Terriers in 6:54. Finally, in the Varsity Four, it was Yale in 7:03.2 to Dartmouth's 7:08.5 and B.U.'s 7:12.2.
