BOSTON - The Boston University women's basketball team has been picked to finish fourth in the America East, as the 2007-08 preseason poll was announced by the conference office today following a vote of the league's head coaches. BU tallied 43 points, while Hartford was selected first with all eight possible votes and Vermont was picked second with one first-place vote.

Binghamton was picked third (45 points), followed by BU (43 points), Stony Brook (32 points), UMBC (28 points), Maine (25 points), Albany (16 points) and New Hampshire (15 points).

The Terriers (15-15, 7-9 AE) return senior Cheri Raffo (Morristown, N.J.), junior Christine Kinneary (Plainedge, N.Y.) and sophomore Aly Hinton (Richboro, Pa.). Raffo started all 30 games last season and finished tied with Erica Kovach for second on the team in points. Kinneary was the team's assist leader with 92 and one this year's tri-captains, along with Raffo and senior Kasey Devine (North Kingstown, R.I.). Hinton, a unanimous all-rookie team honoree, was sixth in the conference in rebounding and was the only freshman to start all 30 games.

The Terriers look to return to the title game, a feat they accomplished for three consecutive seasons before falling in the quarterfinals of the 2007 tournament.

Fourth-year head coach Kelly Greenberg returns three starters and nine letter winners from the 2006-07 team. Three newcomers will make their debuts in the scarlet and white this season as Kat Briggs, Kerry Cashman and Krystyn McIntyre join the Terrier squad.

BU opens its schedule on the road on Nov. 10 at Siena. On Nov. 13, BU will host Rhode Island in the home opener at Case Gym, followed by Ohio State at Agganis Arena on Nov. 17.
