BOSTON - Head coach Kelly Greenberg has announced that Mo Moran, Danielle Callahan and Rashidat Agboola will serve as team captains of the Boston University women’s basketball team for the 2012-13 season.

“We are very excited to have these three women as our team captains for this year,” said Greenberg. “I am confident that they will provide the leadership necessary for success, as they are extremely passionate about winning and are 100 percent committed to BU Basketball.”

Moran enters her senior season following a successful junior campaign in which she was named to the America East All-Conference First Team. Moran currently ranks fourth all-time in program history with 384 career assists and became the 21st Terrier to eclipse the 1,000 point mark in last year’s regular season win at Hartford.

The Hopewell Junction, N.Y., native was second on the team with 10.9 points per game last year and led the team with 4.0 assists per contest.

“It is an honor to be named captain for our team,” said Moran. “We have some big shoes to fill from our previous captains but we are looking forward to the challenge.”

Callahan will appear on the hardwood as a Terrier for the first time this season after spending the past two years on the sideline. The redshirt junior transferred to BU after spending her freshman campaign at LaSalle. Callahan had to sit out the 2010-11 season due to NCAA transfer regulations before missing all of last season due to injury.

“I am so honored and excited to be named a captain for this season,” said Callahan. “Our past captains have been people who I have looked up to and greatly respected, so I am humbled to have the opportunity to fill their shoes. We have a really special group of girls this year and we are ready to work hard to achieve our season goals.”

Agboola returns to the court after a breakout sophomore season where she was second in the conference with 8.8 rebounds per game and third on the team with 10.1 points per game. Agboola also led the team with eight double-doubles during the season. The Methuen, Mass., native was named to the America East All-Defensive Team while also earning a spot on the All-Conference Third team.

“Being named a captain is such an honor,” said Agboola. “I’ve been lucky enough to experience two amazing seasons with a great team. We are looking forward to the season and I am excited to have the opportunity to help lead my team to a successful season."

The Terriers begin their 2012-13 campaign on Friday, Nov. 9, when BU welcomes Comm Ave rival Boston College to Case Gym. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
