Women's Basketball to Participate in Inaugural Hall of Fame Challenge

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Boston University women’s basketball team will play in the first annual Basketball Hall of Fame Challenge in 2013, as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Tuesday.

BU is set to participate in the inaugural challenge along with Bowling Green, Marist, Monmouth, Ohio State, Connecticut, Old Dominion and St. Bonaventure.

“We are excited to announce the first annual Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Basketball Challenge,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. “This is a great platform to celebrate women’s athletics as well as showcase some of the best college basketball programs in the country.”

The NCAA women’s exempt tournament sponsored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference consists of two campus round pools which will be followed by the culminating event on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass. BU will play Monmouth in the final round.

Prior to the neutral site showcase at the MassMutual Center, each team will participate in three scheduled games in the campus round. BU will participate in the Connecticut Pool with Connecticut, Old Dominion and St. Bonaventure. Ohio State will host the remaining teams in the other campus round. Those games will be played on three consecutive days between Nov. 22 and Nov. 27, 2013.
