BOSTON - Senior Kristi Dini of the Boston University women's basketball team has signed a one-year contract with Umana Reyer Venezia, an Italian team in the EuroLeague, for next fall. Dini, the 2009 NCAA 3-point champion, will play for the squad's second division team and will be based out of Venice, Italy.

"We are so happy for Kristi," said head coach Kelly Greenberg. "This is such an incredible opportunity for her. If Kristi continues to work on her game and build on her play from this past year, she will be a very good player in Venice."

Known for her ability to hit shots from beyond the perimeter, the Putnam Valley, N.Y., native finished the 2008-09 season as the NCAA Division I statistical 3-point champion - averaging 3.3 treys per game. She broke the career record (208) at BU for made 3-pointers, and is also the owner of the school and conference single-season records (109). She averaged a career-high 12.7 points per game in 2008-09 and hit five or more 3-pointers in one game on 10 occasions.

Dini, a 2009 America East All-Conference Third Team selection, graduates from Boston University leaving behind a legacy as one of the program's most clutch shooters. She made it a habit of hitting game-changing shots and just this past season helped preserve the Terriers' undefeated America East regular season when she sank a 3-pointer from the corner at Hartford to force overtime. The team went on to complete the come-from-behind victory in the extra session.

This past season, Dini helped the Terriers reach new heights as they broke a team record for wins in a season (25) and boasted an impressive 19-game winning streak, while also running the America East regular season table at 16-0. BU was one of just four teams in the nation that went unbeaten in its respective conference this year. She is a member of the all-time winningest class in program history with 78 career wins and a .624 winning percentage.
