BOSTON - Following a week-long rest the Boston University women's basketball team (12-10, 8-2 AE) travels to Vermont (19-5, 9-2 AE) in a crucial rematch between the America East's second and third place teams. The Terriers defeated UVM earlier in the season to give the program its first-ever win over a ranked opponent.

The game will be televised locally on WCAX a CBS affiliate in Burlington, Vt.

THE TERRIERS: The Terriers return to the court following a week-long break, and will bring a three-game winning streak to Burlington, Vt., on Wednesday evening. Freshman Chantell Alford continues to impress in her rookie campaign as she is currently averaging 15.4 points per game and has already amassed 324 points, which ranks fifth all-time for BU rookies. Classmate Caitlynn Moran is also posting 13.0 ppg, while sophomore Alex Young averages 13.8 ppg.

Senior Aly Hinton has been the team's leading rebounder all season with 6.0 rpg and she recently surpassed 1,000 career points - the 18th player to do so in program history. BU is shooting .375 from the field and .321 from beyond the 3-point arc.

LAST TIME OUT (Binghamton, Feb. 3, 2010): BU extended its winning streak to three games with its 23-point victory over Binghamton on Tuesday (Feb. 3) at Case Gym as five Terriers reached double-figure scoring. Senior Aly Hinton netted 10 points as she became the 18th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point career milestone and freshman Caitlynn Moran poured in 21 points and brought down a career-high eight rebounds.

Moran earned the Terriers' America East Player of the Game honors as also dished out a game-high seven assists to go along with her 21 point, eight-rebound performance. She shot 8-for-15 from the field and hit three treys, while also collecting four steals.

Four more Terriers reached double-figures as the squad field five players in double-digits for the first time since Feb. 9, 2009 vs. Stony Brook. Hinton was 3-for-4 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line and reached 1,000 career points with 11 minutes remaining in the game. Rookie Chantell Alford added 20 points on 6-for-9 shooting and a perfect 6-for-6 showing at the charity stripe, while sophomores Alex Young and Caroline Stewart added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

BU shot 47.4 percent from the field and was 19-for-22 from the free-throw line, while its defense held Binghamton to 32.8 percent from the field. The Terriers also won the battle of the boards by a 42-33 margin.

LAST TIME OUT VS. VERMONT (Jan. 18, 2010): Rallying from a 16-point deficit, BU stunned then-No. 24 Vermont, 73-64, on Monday (Jan. 18) at Case Gym in its first-ever win over a ranked opponent. Freshman Chantell Alford paced the offense with a career-high 28 points and classmate Caitlynn Moran added 20.

The key for the Terriers was their free-throw shooting as they went 20-for-26 from the line and held the Catamounts to a stingy seven chances. BU shot 45.1 percent from the field and held UVM to 37.1 percent. The Terriers' bench outscored UVM, 7-2, and both squads brought down 39 boards. BU's defense also swatted four shots and earned eight steals.

Alford earned America East Player of the Game honors as she went 9-for-14 from the field with five treys and three steals and two blocks. Moran was 5-for-11 from the field and made it to the charity stripe 14 times, converting on 10 chances. She also dished out eight assists. Sophomore Caroline Stewart was one point shy of a double-double with nine points and a career-high 12 rebounds.

BU VS. VERMONT: The Terriers and Catamounts have met a combined 63 times over the years and it is tied for the second-oldest rivalry in BU's program history with UNH, behind only Maine (64 contests). BU leads the series, 35-28, and has won 14 of the last 18 contests and two of the last four have gone into overtime, including double overtime in the 2008 AE semifinals, which the Terriers won by a 76-74 margin. The series has heated up recently, as BU took both games in the regular season in 2009, but UVM claimed the America East championship in 2009 - BU's lone loss to a conference opponent in 2008-09. Earlier this year, the Terriers upset then-No. 24 UVM in the program's first-ever win over a ranked opponent.

The series began on Nov. 29, 1978, in a 75-53 BU victory. The Terriers rattled off 16 straight wins in the series - going undefeated in the 1980s - before succumbing to Vermont for the first time on Feb. 3, 1990, by a 66-52 margin. The Catamounts made it two in a row with a victory on Jan. 19, 1991, 71-67, before the Terriers split the season series that year with a 54-53 decision. Vermont strung together six consecutive victories from Jan. 18, 1992, to Jan. 15, 1994. During the mid-1990s both teams traded wins, however, on March 3, 1996, Vermont began a streak of 15 consecutive wins that would be its longest in the series history.

HINTON NETS 1,000TH CAREER POINT: On Feb. 3, senior Aly Hinton became the 18th Terrier in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone. With a jumper at 11:07, Hinton reached 11 points vs. Binghamton, which would prove to be all she needed as reached 1,001.

FRESHMEN IMPACT: The Terriers' freshmen class has contributed 45.8 percent of the team's scoring this season, led by rookie Chantell Alford, who has netted a class-high 324 points (15.4 ppg). As a class, the rookies average 30.5 points per game.

The quintet (Alford, Moran, Kristen Sims, Deven Green, Jacqueline Kuczynski) has had the highest impact among all freshman classes in the America East. The closest rookie crop is at Albany where three freshmen have combined to average 23.5 ppg, and 41.6 percent of the team's 56.5 ppg.

ALFORD AMONG TOP ROOKIES NATIONALLY: Freshman Chantell Alford is ranked 13th among all freshmen in the NCAA Division I with 15.4 points per game. Delaware's Elena Delle Donna is the national leader for freshmen with 25.6 ppg.

HINTON NINTH AMONG ACTIVE AE CAREER SCORERS; FOURTH IN REBOUNDS: Senior Aly Hinton's 1,001 career points is currently eighth among all active America East scorers. In addition, she is one of nine active America East student-athletes who have tallied over 1,000 points in their respective careers. Furthermore, her 656 career rebounds is fourth among active AE women's basketball players.

ALFORD, MORAN AMONG PROGRAM'S TOP FRESHMAN SCORERS: The freshman duo of Chantell Alford and Caitlynn `Mo' Moran has made an immediate impact on the Terriers' program and it is now showing in the record books. Alford has already amassed 324 points to rank fifth all-time for freshman scoring, while Moran is close behind with 285 to rank ninth all-time.
