She trailed Annemarie Olson (94) - 1,078 career points for 7th place on the list entering the Vermont game... Dixon now has her sights set on Terry Shinkwin (81), who is sixth on the all-time scoring list with 1,109 career points... Against Drexel on January 2nd, Dixon became the second fastest Terrier to reach the 1,000-point plateau as she reached the milestone in her 65th career game... B.U.'s all-time scoring leader, Debbie Miller (81), reached 1,000 points in 54 games.

Recapping The Last Meeting Between the Hawks and Terriers - 2/21/99 WEST HARTFORD, CT - Behind a game-high 23 points, 19 in the second half, from Jamie Nicholls, B.U. defeated Hartord, 78-71.. The victory snapped a Terrier 11-game losing skid... After spotting Hartford an 8-2 lead, B.U. used a 15-3 run to take a 17-11 lead after an Alison Dixon (19 points) layup with 9:15 to go... B.U. had a 33-28 halftime lead as Dixon scored 12 first-half points... In the second-half, Nicholls highlighted an 11-0 run with nine points as B.U. took a 44-28 lead with 15:44 to go... The Terriers extended the lead to 20, 56-36, after a Nicholls three-pointer with 11:53 remaining... Hartford cut the lead to four, 68-64, with 2:28 left, but B.U. hit 7-of-12 free throws down the stretch to seal the win... The win was the first over Hartford since February 23, 1995- and eight-game span.

Terriers On The Defensive In Tuesday night's 68-55 win over Albany, the Terriers held the Great Danes to just 29.7 percent shooting from the field (19-of-64)... It marked the first time that B.U. had held an opponent under 30 percent shooting in a game since November 22, 1997 against Marist.... B.U. defeated the Red Foxes, 76-42, as Marist shot 16-of-57 for 28.1 percent from the field.

Balanced Offense Also in Tuesday's win, four Terriers reached double-digits for the second time this season and the first time since December 29th at Wagner... Alison Dixon led the attack with a game-high 20 points, followed by Dia Dufault's 16 pts, Alison Argentieri with 14 pts, and Anne Nelson with 12 pts... In the win at Wagner, Dufault had 24 pts, Dixon added 22 pts, Annie Tomasini had a career-high 18 pts, and Argentieri had 10 pts.

Steady Improvement For Dufault Sophomore guard Dia Dufault has already reached a career-high for points in a season with 201... Last season in 27 games, Dufault scored 183 points... With 382 career points in 43 games, Dufault has a 8.8 ppg career average... The 6-0 guard is also closing in on a single season high for rebounds... She currently has 101 caroms. Last season she had 109 rebounds... In her last three games, Dufault is averaging 11.6 ppg and 8.0 rpg.

Iron Women Three of Boston University's five starters, Alison Dixon, Dia Dufault, and Alison Argentieri are averaging more than 30 minutes of action per game this season... Dixon leads the way, averaging 35.6 mpg, followed by Argentieri, 35.5 mpg, and Dufault, 31.9 mpg.

Twenty Something For 34th Time With 24 points vs. Vermont on Thursday night, junior forward Alison Dixon has now scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games, and five ties this season... She has reached 20 or more points in 34-of-70 career games for the Terriers.... Last season, Dixon scored 20 or more points in a game 11 times, including a career-high 30 points vs. Dartmouth on November 23... Last December, Dixon had a string of five straight 20-point games, tying a B.U. women's record... Debbie Miller (81) also had five straight 20-point efforts in 1979-80.

Doubling Up on Double-Doubles In back-to-back games at New Hampshire and Maine on December 9th and 11th, Alison Dixon recorded double-doubles...At Maine, Dixon scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and at New Hampshire, she scored 19 points and hauled in a career-high 16 rebounds... Dixon has registered three double-double efforts this season and now has eight for her career.

Dixon Approaching Terrier Records Alison Dixon has already made news this season with her scoring prowess, but she is also approaching other B.U. career leader records... She currently has 266 free throw attempts to place her in range of Julie Schmidt (95), who is 5th on the Terriers free throws attempted list with 278... Dixon just moved ahead of Schmidt on the all-time free throws made list with 195... She is currently 5th on the list. Just ahead of her is Pam Trainor (84) who made 215 charity shots... Dixon also has 458 rebounds and is closing in on becoming the 8th Terrier to score 1,000 points and collect 500 rebounds... Schmidt was the last to achieve the feat, as she did in her senior year.

Argentieri Proving Herself At The Point Freshman point guard Alison Argentieri is quickly establishing her own identity for the Terriers... On December 29th at Wagner, the 5-9 point guard dished out a career-high 11 assists in the Terriers' 83-64 win... Her 11 assists were the most by a Terrier since Cara Millett (99) handed out 12 assists at Maine on February 12, 1998... Argentieri is leading the Terriers in assists (67, 4.1 apg), and steals (33, 2.0 spg)... At Harvard, on November 23rd, Argentieri scored a career-high 21 points in leading B.U. to a 75-67 victory over the Crimson... Argentieri was 6-of-8 from the floor, 4-of-5 from three-point land, and made 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the final :40.

Pilar Verde Joins The Terriers Sophomore guard Pilar Verde of Madrid, Spain joined the team just after the new year... In five games, she is averaging 4.2 ppg and 2.0 rpg, and 2.0 apg... Verde tied a season-high with eight points vs. Vermont on Thursday night.

Head Coach Margaret McKeon Hired on April 26, 1999, 31-year old Margaret McKeon is the fifth head coach in the history of the Boston University women's basketball program... A former standout point guard at St. John's University, McKeon brings a history of coaching success to the Terrier program... McKeon has served as an assistant coach at Arizona State (1991-93), the University of Houston (1993-95), and most recently, George Washington University (1995-99)... In four years at GW, McKeon helped the Colonials to three Atlantic 10 regular-season championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight finish in 1997 and a final number 10 ranking in the CNN/USA TODAY poll.

New Staff in Place McKeon's three assistants are - Gabrielle Butler (Franklin & Marshall 1985) - Jerry McLaughlin (Flagler 1977) - and Cindy Blodgett (Maine 1998)... Butler comes to B.U. after spending eight seasons as an assistant coach - the last four with Margaret McKeon - at George Washington University... A former head coach at Siena and Alaska-Anchorage, McLaughlin has also coached at Temple, New Mexico State, and Kentucky... ... Blodgett, who plays for the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA, led Maine to four America East conference titles and four straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament...At Maine, Blodgett set 18 University of Maine records including scoring with 3005 points in 118 games for an average of 25.5 ppg... Terriers Ink Five Recruits in Early Signing Period Boston University women's basketball coach Margaret McKeon has annouced that five players - forward Ashley Carr (Milwaukee, WI), guard Courtney Jones (Lafayette Hill, PA), guard Lashaunda Mitchell (Oyster Bay, NY), forward Marisa Moseley (Springfield, MA) and guard Katie Terhune (Port Murray, NJ) - signed national letters on intent during the early signing period from November 10 to November 17... Carr, a forward/center from Divine Savior Holy Angels, has led her team to a 32-12 record over the last two years, with two Greater Metro Conference Championships an two trips to the Wisconsin State Tournament... Jones, a 5-8 point guard from Mount Saint Joseph Academy, averaged 14.8 ppg, 4.0 apg, 4.0 spg and 3.0 rpg last season. She is also an outstanding student with a 3.923 grade point average... Mitchell, a guard from St. Dominic High School, led her squad to the 1998 New York State Class B Catholic Championship with a 20-7 record. She was a Newsday All-Long Island Second Team selection... Moseley, a forward from Longmeadow H.S., averaged 14.0 ppg and 8.9 rpg last season, as she led Longmeadow to the Western Massachusetts semifinals...Terhune, a 5-11 guard from Warren Hills H.S. (N.J.), averaged 20.5 ppg and 7.9 rpg last season... She was a First Team All-Conferecne, All-Area, All-West Jersey, and All-County selection last season and was only the second female to score over 1000 career points at Warren Hills during her junior season.
