POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Behind double-digit scoring performances from four players, the Boston University women's basketball team defeated Marist in overtime, 62-56, Saturday night at McCann Arena. BU extended its winning streak to four consecutive games and improved to 7-3 on the season while Marist drops to 4-5 on the year.

It was BU's first overtime victory since the 2008-09 season, when the Terriers defeated Hartford, 80-75, with an extra period. In BU's last overtime game, the Terriers fell to UMass, 78-73, on Nov. 15, 2009.

Senior Mo Moran led BU with 14 points while adding six assists and five rebounds. Junior Rashidat Agboola posted her third straight double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds while senior Chantell Alford and junior Danielle Callahan added 13 points each.

Casey Dulin led the Red Foxes with 15 points and added seven rebounds while Emma O'Connor scored 10 points. Kristina Danella led Marist with nine rebounds.

Marist held a 9-6 lead with the first media timeout called with 14 minutes remaining in the first half and held the advantage until Kristen Sims hit a 3-pointer to put BU ahead, 13-11, with just under 10 minutes to play. Callahan and Katie Poppe followed with treys of their own to give BU a 19-11 lead with 6:41 to go.

The Red Foxes closed the gap with a 7-0 run capped by a 3-pointer from Leanne Ockenden but baskets from Agboola and Moran extended BU's margin. Casey Dulin sank a shot in the final seconds to send the teams to the locker rooms with BU holding a one-point lead.



The Terriers entered the second half with a slim 25-24 lead and Marist tied the game with a three-point-play from Beynnon with 17:16 to go. BU regained the lead with a pair of free throws from Callahan and extended its advantage to as many as eight points with a layup from Sims with 10:59 to play in regulation.

BU held a 49-41 lead following a 3-pointer from Callahan with 5:21 remaining in regulation but the Terriers failed to score another field goal as Marist chipped away at the deficit. The Red Foxes went 6-for-6 from the foul line and knotted the game with a layup from Elizabeth Beynnon with 1:21 to play.

With the game tied at 49-49 after regulation, BU opened the extra period with a 7-2 run to take a 56-51 lead with 2:32 remaining. The Terriers did not score another field goal for the remainder of overtime but netted six additional points from the charity stripe to capture the 62-56 victory and improve to 5-4 all-time against Marist.

Both teams shot 33.3 percent for the game with BU converting 21-of-63 opportunities while Marist completed 20-of-60 chances. The Red Foxes held a 44-42 rebounding advantage.

BU returns to Case Gym on Monday night (Dec. 10) for its final game before the holiday break when the Terriers host Harvard. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at The Roof. All fans at the game will be eligible to win tickets to the 2013 Men's Ice Hockey Beanpot.
