CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Matt Howard led the Boston University men’s indoor track team with a first place finish in the Harvard Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Gordon Track.
Howard completed the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.75 seconds, beating out 62 other athletes for the top spot. Junior Keith Buchanan placed tenth in the event with a time of 51.37. Last weekend at the Husky Invitational, Howard earned his first top finish of the season, completing the 500 meter in 1:05.75. This week, it was sophomore Chad Steinhauser competing in the 500, taking home fifth place with a time of 1:05.87.
In the 60-meter hurdles, both Terrier entrants qualified for the finals with sophomore Jason Nardella finishing third with a time of 8.46, and junior Greg Daggett finishing eighth with a time of 8.93. The Terriers rounded out the running events with a third and ninth place finish in the 4x400 meter relay.
In the field events, the men had three members finish in the top ten. In the long jump, senior Steve Boursiquot placed second with a distance of 6.83 meters and Mac Alan Gerard finished ninth with a distance of 6.48. Junior Dan Martin rounded out the trio, finishing tenth in the shot put with a distance of 13.43 meters.
The men take a break from action until Jan. 17, 2006, when the team faces off against Boston College, UMass and Sacred Heart at BU’s Track and Tennis Center.
