WORCESTER, Mass. - After the first full day of competition at the Holy Cross Decathlon, freshman Logan Moore and junior Greg Daggett of the Boston University men’s outdoor track and field team both sit in striking position after completing five of ten events on Thursday afternoon.
Daggett sits in seventh place with 3048 points. Steve Blum of the Coast Guard Academy holds the top spot with 3260. Daggett completed the 100 meters in 12.01 seconds, leaped 6.43 meters in the long jump, threw 10.88 meters in the shot put, reached a height of 1.68 meters in the high jump, and ended the day with a 53.75 second showing in the 400 meters.
Moore sits in 19th place, having lost valuable points in the shot put by fouling out. In the 100 meters, Moore recorded a time of 12.05 seconds, before jumping a distance of 6.21 meters in the long jump. In the high jump, he reached a height of 1.80 meters and finished the day finishing the 400 in 55.71 seconds. Moore currently sits with 2471 points.
Both athletes will finish the meet tomorrow beginning at 10:30 a.m., when they will compete in the 110-meter hurdles, the discus throw, the pole vault, the javelin and the 1500-meter run.
