Goodman, Ryan Lead Men's and Women's Indoor Track at Quad Meet
BOSTON - The Boston University men’s indoor track team continued its exciting start to the season with another impressive showing at its quad-meet on Wednesday evening at the Track and Tennis Center. Senior Nick Goodman set the tone for the men, placing first in both the mile run and 800 meters, helping the team to 13 top-five finishes overall. Senior Matt Howard picked a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash, beating out 13 other competitors with a time of 48.89 seconds. Senior Barry Graham followed behind in sixth place (50.33) and newcomer Jack Pranikoff made his debut at the TTC with an 11th-place finish of 53.94. Goodman paced two other Terriers in the mile, completing the race in 4:13.28. Junior Patrick Hoye followed close behind in second place with a time of 4:18.58, while freshman Eric Ashe took third (4:19.31). In the 800 meters, Goodman earned his second top finish in the meet, defeating six other athletes with a winning time of 1:58.51. He was the sole athlete to complete the run in under two seconds. BU found another first-place finish with junior David Proctor, who edged out Patrick Mellea of Boston College, to win the 1000 meters with a time of 2:25.29. In the 3000-meter run, senior Phil Shaw was awarded fifth place with a 8:46.94 time. Sacred Heart held the odds in the 55-meter hurdles, being responsible for three of the four competitors. Junior Greg Daggett held his own, barely missing a second-place showing by two hundredths of a second. Daggett ended in third place with a time of 3:24.56. In the field events, rookie Logan Moore led his team. The Merrimack, N.H., native placed third in the pole vault with a height of 3.95 meters and third in the shot put with a throw of 13.98. In the pole vault, Daggett followed Moore with a fourth-place finish (3.95) and Jordan Cumper rounded out the group, placing sixth with a height of 3.65. Junior Daniel Martin joined Moore in the shot put, finishing with a 13.79 meter throw, good for fifth place. Martin also finished sixth in the weight throw with an 11.87 finish. Two Terriers placed well in the long jump, as senior Steven Bourisquot placed fifth with a 6.18-meter jump and Kodjo Wilder leaped to a 5.93 meter, seventh-place finish. The men return to action on Saturday, Jan. 27, when they compete at the Terrier Invitational at the Track and Tennis Center.
