BOSTON - Head coach Bruce Lehane has announced the 2009 schedule for the Boston University cross country teams. The schedule is highlighted by three races at Franklin Park in Boston, including the NCAA Northeast Regional, which will be hosted by BU.

"This year's schedule is a traditional one in many ways," said Lehane, who will be in his 28th season leading the Terrier distance runners. "We always like running in Boston so it's nice to have the regionals returning to Franklin Park."

The season kicks off on Sept. 12 with the team headed to the Green Mountain State for the Vermont Invitational in Burlington. The Terriers will host the BU Invitational at Franklin Park on Sept. 20 before taking to the home course again on Oct. 10 for the New England Championships.

The Terriers will compete at the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet on Oct. 24 before returning to Burlington, Vt., for the America East Championships on Oct. 31. The NCAA Northeast Regionals will be held on Nov. 14 in Franklin Park with runners seeking to qualify for the national championships, which will return to Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 23.

The BU women's squad is highlighted by senior Erin Lagasse, who won the Dartmouth Invitational and qualified for the NCAA championships last year, while the returnees on the men's side include senior Eric Ashe, who won last year's Ted Owen Invitational.
