BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Boston University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 39th Annual Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh, on Friday afternoon in Bethlehem, Pa. The men’s team placed 15th out of 37 schools while the womens squad finished 26th in a field of 40, which featured three of the nation’s top 10 schools.

The Terrier men had three runners finish the race in the top 100. Senior Matt Paulson paced BU, completing the 8k course in 32nd place with a time of 24:43. Paulson’s classmate, Robert Gibson, secured a 74th-place finish with a time of 25:15, while rookie Alec Olson crossed the finish line in 25:29, good for 96th place. Freshman Kevin Thomas (25:53), sophomore Ben Ravetz (25:58) and seniors Michael Caputo (26:02) and Elliot Lehane (26:35) rounded out the Terrier contingent.

On the women’s side, junior Monica Adler led the Terriers on the 6K course with a 40th place finish (21:14). Senior Danielle Bowen finished second for BU (22:26) with freshman Shelby Stableford close behind (22:45). Senior Nikki Long (22:51), rookie Michelle Sumner (24:07), junior Ally Brillaud (24:24) and junior Ashli Tagoai (24:45) rounded out the top seven for BU on the day.


 

 

Both squads will return to action on Oct. 7 when the Terriers travel to Westfield, Mass., for the New England Championships.
