BOSTON – The Boston University wrestling team shut out Wagner College, 56-0, on Friday evening at Case Gym. The Terriers pinned four Seahawks and Mike Roberts earned a technical fall as they move to 4-3 in the Colonial Athletic Association and 6-5 overall.

Abbie Rush opened up the dual-meet with a pin in 5:13, as the Terriers jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. Rush controlled the match from the get-go with two takedowns and a near fall. He took a commanding lead with a reversal and never looked back the rest of the way.

Joey Whitaker earned the Terriers’ second win by pinning Joe Cipriano in 2:53. Whitaker never trailed picking up most of his points on takedowns and reversals, while minimizing Cipriano to escapes.

Mike Roberts claimed the next Terrier victory with a technical fall over Justin Ensign. Roberts and Ensign battled in the early going before Roberts began to build a commanding lead with consecutive takedowns and a nearfall. The sophomore went on to put together a 21-6 lead that earned him the technical fall.

In the most tightly contested match of the dual-meet, Orey Hall and Wagner’s Angelo D’Amico went the distance in the heavyweight pairing as Hall came out on top by a slight 6-5 decision. After trailing early on, Hall took the lead with an escape then picked up two points on a takedown as the sophomore held off D’Amico’s final comeback attempts.
