Thanks to their performances at the CAA Duals, redshirt junior Nestor Taffur has been named the CAA Co-Wrestler of the Week and freshman Dane Harlowe is the CAA Co-Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Taffur won all three of his matches at Saturday's CAA Duals, knocking off the conference's top two 157-pounders in the process to move into the top spot in the latest CAA rankings.
All three of his matches came down to the wire, but Taffur was up to the task and improved to 22-6 on the year. He opened with a 2-1 win over 18th-ranked John Nicholson in the second tiebreaker and then earned a 4-2 victory against Hofstra's Tyler Banks. Taffur capped his perfect day with a 5-3 overtime triumph against George Mason's Jaaziah Bethea.
Harlowe ended up competing in two of Saturday's duals at 133 pounds and came out on top in both. He edged Hofstra's Joey Gosinski, 2-0, before posting a 7-4 victory versus George Mason's Zach Isenhour. The freshman 3-1 on the year including a perfect 3-0 mark in dual competition.
The Terriers (5-3, 1-3 CAA) will return to action on Saturday (Jan. 26) when they visit Duke for a dual starting at 4:30 p.m.
