OMAHA, Neb. - Boston University sophomore Fred Santaite fell one win short of All-America status at the NCAA Wrestling Championships on Friday, dropping a pair of matches to Big Ten opponents in the 125-pound bracket at the Qwest Center. Santaite finishes the year with a record of 20-11.

In the quarterfinal round in the morning session, Santaite fell by a 10-2 major decison to Cashé Quiroga of Purdue to drop to the consolation bracket.

Facing elimination yet still one win away from securing All-America recognition, Santaite faced sixth-ranked Zachary Sanders of Minnesota in the evening. Santaite struck first with a takedown, but Sanders answered with one of his own and the two were tied, 3-3, after the opening period. Sanders used a pair of second-period takedowns to establish a lead and went on to earn a 9-4 victory.
