Terriers Post Pair of 34-6 Wins Against VMI, Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Boston University wrestling team had a successful Sunday afternoon in North Carolina, posting identical 34-6 victories over VMI and Davidson at Belk Arena. With the wins, the Terriers improve to 7-4 on the year.

Seven Terriers each picked up two wins in the tri-meet and senior Hunter Meys (197) led the way, posting 10 team points thanks to a pin just one minute into his match with VMI's Urayoan Garcia and a 10-0 blanking of Davidson's Carson Stack.

Redshirt sophomore Alex Najjar (184) also accumulated 10 points thanks to a Davidson forfeit and a 14-3 major decision over VMI's Conor Black.

Junior B.J. Suitor turned in two strong performances at 133, pinning VMI's Brandon Goodwyn at 2:39 before an 8-2 win over Davidson's Anthony Elias.

Redshirt junior Nestor Taffur reached 25 wins on the year, recording a 16-0 technical fall against VMI's Ted Gottwald before adding a 15-1 major decision versus Davidson's Christopher Talevi.

BU got seven points from its 125-pound matches thanks to junior Bubba McGinley, who he did not give up a point in his two wins (10-0, 6-0). At 285, junior Kevin Innis topped Michael LaPrade (VMI), 9-3, and Eddie Isola (Davidson), 11-3. Sophomore Mitchell Wightman edged VMI's Mark Darr, 3-1, at 165 before closing the Davidson dual with an 8-3 victory versus Christopher Cirenza.

Three other BU grapplers picked up a win. Junior Nick Tourville pulled off a 2-1 win over VMI's Zeb Stewart at 149, classmate Eric Des Lauriers kicked off the Davidson dual with a 5-0 blanking of Ian Solcz at 174 and sophomore Tyler Scotton (149) collected an 11-3 major decision over Davidson's Sejiro Littleton in his lone match of the day.



BU will return to action on Friday (Feb. 1) when it visits Drexel for a conference dual beginning at 7 p.m.
