BOSTON - The Boston University wrestling team hosted the Boston Duals on Sunday as five other EIWA teams came to Case Gym for a multi-dual meet. The Terriers posted a thrilling 18-16 victory over Army after falling to American by a score of 22-16.

The Terriers held a 15-3 lead over the Black Knights before allowing the visitors to reel off three straight wins, including a pin and a major decision. Faced with a 16-15 deficit entering the final match, BU turned to senior Kevin Innis, who came through with a 3-1 decision in the heavyweight bout to secure the win.

Seniors Nestor Taffur (157) and Nick Tourville (149), junior Mitchell Wightman (165) and sophomore Dane Harlowe (133) each won both of their bouts for the Terriers.

In their first match, the Terriers built a 16-6 lead over American before the Eagles came out victorious in the final four bouts to escape with a 22-16 win.

The Eagles opened with a first-minute pin at 125 before the Terriers reeled off five straight wins by Harlowe, junior Tyler Scotton, Tourville, the 10th-ranked Taffur and Wightman.

American charged back, however, beginning with a major decision at 174 by American's Keithen Cast. Junior Andrew Maksimovic wrestled up at 184 on Sunday and put up a good effort in an eventual 8-5 loss.

The Eagles got a pin from ninth-ranked Daniel Mitchell at 197 to take a 19-16 lead into the final bout. At heavyweight, Blake Herrin secured the win for American with a 6-1 decision over Innis. Both teams earned five wins each, but the Eagles' two pins proved to be the difference maker.

American was the most successful team at Case Gym on Sunday, earning wins against Harvard, BU and Brown.

The Terriers rebounded against Army with their first-ever EIWA dual win. Senior Bubba McGinley got things started with an impressive 9-3 triumph over Hunter Wood at 125 and Harlowe followed with a 3-0 blanking on Justin Sein at 133.

A 2-1 riding-time victory by Army's Tyler Rauenzahn at 141 got the Black Knights on the board, but BU quickly responded with a stretch of three straight wins.

Tourville topped Mark Marchetti, 6-3, and Taffur improved to 25-2 on the year with a 7-3 win over Paul Hancock. Wightman capped his strong day by earning a 7-5 sudden-victory decision versus Cole Gracey.

Faced with a 15-3 deficit, the Black Knights stormed back with three-bout win streak of their own, setting up the late dramatics by Innis.

BU (2-6, 1-5 EIWA) will take next weekend off before returning to action on Saturday, Jan. 25, when it hosts Rider at the FitRec Center. The dual will start at 1 p.m.
