Men's Day One Results | Women's Day One Results
BANGOR, Maine – After one day of competition at the America East Championships, the Boston University men’s and women’s track & field teams each sit in fifth place.
The men’s squad compiled 33.50 points on Saturday. Binghamton currently leads with 66 points, followed by Albany (45), Maine (43.50) and New Hampshire (36.50). The women’s team accumulated 27 points, four points behind fourth-place Vermont (31). Binghamton leads with 46 points, followed by Albany (40) and New Hampshire (33).
For the men, Junior Sam Wuest (2.00m) and sophomore Connor Sullivan (1.96m) claimed second and third place, respectively, in the high jump. Senior Samuel Arsenault was third in the long jump (6.72m), while senior Michael Murowchick finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 52.55m. On the track, senior Peter Gilmore placed third in the 10,000m run (30:56.87).
Junior R.J. Page is in prime position to repeat as champion in both the 100m and 200m dashes. He had the top qualifying time in both events, including a time of 10.55 seconds in the 100m dash and a 200m time of 21.30 seconds. On the track, senior Peter Gilmore placed third in the 10,000m run with a time of 30:56.87.

Joel Senick (21.65) and
Tewado Latty (21.89), were also top qualifiers in the 200m dash. The duo also exceled in the preliminaries of the 400m dash, with Senick leading the way with a time of 48.48 seconds. Latty qualified with a time of 48.95 seconds.
The Terriers had a trio of qualifying times in the 1500m run, led by sophomore Rich Peters’ second-place time of 3:54.86. Seniors Joe Greenspun (3:55.33) and Matt Paulson (4:00.31) also qualified for the final of that event.
On the women’s side, junior Allison Barwise currently leads the heptathlon, as she collected 3220 points through the first four events. She claimed first place in the high jump (1.81m) and 100m hurdles (14.72).
Junior Marita Stressenger was fourth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:50.94. Senior Alyson Rofrano was eighth in the pole vault (3.00m), while junior Susan Ottey (44.92m) and sophomore Chlesea Curry (44.26m) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the hammer throw.
Barwise and senior Shelby Walton finished second and third, respectively, in the long jump. Barwise leapt 5.81m and Walton hit a mark of 5.52m. Barwise also scored points in the javelin with a seventh-place throw of 38.59m. Walton also competed in preliminaries for the 100m and 200m dashes. The defending champion in each of those events, Walton qualified second in the 100m dash (11.87) and the 200m dash (24.63).
Both teams will be back in action on Sunday for the conclusion of the two-day meet. The women’s team is looking to sweep the indoor and outdoor title in 2012, while the men’s squad is looking the program’s first-ever outdoor crown.
